I have seen La Pieta in the flesh inside the Basilica Di San Pietro in Rome. This amazing statue was carved by Michelangelo as a 25 year old and Boy is it beautiful. As is well known, one of Michelangelo’s preferred topics to create around was the relationship between the divine virgin and her child. This is a two dimensional interpretation of the wonderful La Pieta statue in graphite/pencil.
